    SPEAKING ENGAGEMENTS

It takes an extraordinary man to spend 148 days alone. Add to his solitude, a rocketing race boat flying off monster waves, “Perfect Storm” conditions and obstacles like icebergs and hurricanes. It’s not a pretty picture, or rather one most of us would like to avoid personally. Brad Van Liew thrives for this place. He risked his life to accomplish a dream, sailing around the world alone. Van Liew is no swashbuckling sailor, but a well mannered, social animal, an entrepreneur, and master story-teller. He is America’s most notorious adrenaline junkie on the water, an extreme adventurer in every regard.

The pinnacle of Van Liew’s career was reached in May 2003 when he swept all five legs of the Around Alone, a solo race around the globe. Eight months and 30,000 miles of sea separated the start line in New York, from the finish line in Newport, rounding the world’s five great capes.

Fellow competitors were not the worst of Van Liew’s worries. Icebergs, snow storms, hurricanes, and killer whales were par for the course. Sleep deprivation, dehydration, and medical emergencies at sea are tangible risks he managed.

Van Liew is Lance Armstrong on the water - an American excelling to the pinnacle of victory in a popular international sport.

He is funny, engaging, powerful and enigmatic. Van Liew weaves his story of discovery – including turbulence, adversity and eventual victory – into the lives of the audience. He knows who he is talking to, their business and their desires.
